I wonder if someone could possibly help me please. Does anyone know how to connect a Starlight Instruments focuser (specifically a Focus Boss II) to The SkyX running on Mac OS?

I've tried to connect the hub via serial usb and tried to connect in The SkyX application, but nothing. I've also tried to connect via Ethernet, though I don't know how to find the ip of the hub to input the numbers into the dialogue box in The SkyX?

I'm at a bit of a loss...

I should also add that I'm using a usb to ethernet extender (Sillex). I thought this could be causing a problem so connected via usb, and nothing.

Any help would be greatly received this end :)

I'd recommend you to post your question in the Software subforum here in CN. You'll get more response there.

I'm not familiar with the Starlight but you might see if the Shoestring astronomy FCUSB will work with it. Works fine with my Mac and JMI motofocus motors. http://www.store.sho...products_fc.htm

Thanks for the replies guys :)

I've already tried Stark's MicroTouchFocus but with no joy. There's no preference panes in the application to select a type of connection, so how you tell it to look at ethernet I'll never know.

But anyways...

I've fixed it...yay. Luckily enough for me I've got a Windows PC that I've installed Optec's FocusLynx software on that controls the focuser which enabled me to find out what the focusers hubs IP is which I then typed into OSX System Preferences/ Network - search domain 169.254.191.102 and the same numbers into The SkyX's focusers settings and it found it.

I've no idea how you could set this up without a Win PC. All of the help files from both Optec and The SkyX don't explain any of this. Luckily enough I figured it out on my own.

Ya, microtouch only uses usb. Unless theres a usb to ip emulator for mac.

Hey. Is the focuboss ipv6 compatible?
