Just got in from observing/sketching. This sketch took just over 3 hours at the eyepiece. No adjustments have been made other than cropping.

I used a 102mm f/9.8 refractor on an LXD75 mount, 20mm eyepiece setting on my Hyperion zoom, and a 13% T Moon filter to help with contrast. The media is black Strathmore Artagain paper (60 lb., 160 g/m2), white charcoal pencil, black charcoal pencil, white Conte' crayon, white Conte' pastel pencil, black Conte' color pencil, and a blending stump for the maria. A circular 6-inch protractor was used to outline the lunar disk.

Erika,
I'm speechless! Just excellent.

Everyone should check your site. You have a number of excellent Moon Sketches showing all phases. Great work. Thanks for sharing.

Erika

Another masterpiece!   I love the slight painterly impressionistic quality with your balance of realism.

I wish we had the clear skies long enough to sketch here. Portland has constantly unsettled and changing cold-wet weather this time of year. :tonofbricks:

Amazing. tackling that much real estate is overwhelming for me. I have to stick to just a few craters.

Erika,

Stunning texture here and amazing sketch.
It really doesn't get better in lunar sketching than this.

Erika, nothing less than the most detailed, photo realistic, and artistic sketch of the Moon I've seen in many moons. Your mastery of lunar sketching is awesome! :waytogo:
