I'd like to start mounting my WO 90mm on a Manfrotto tripod. I'm wondering is there a suitable saddle plate that works with Manfrotto heads like the 502HD or 504HD and accepts a Vixen style dovetail?

You can simply attach the WO directly to the 504PLONG plate I believe if your vixen dovetail is drilled to suit

For what it's worth, here's a photo of my Orion ED80 mounted on a Manfrotto 502HD head and 028B tripod. The 504PLONG plate connects to the scope's 1/4-20 mounting base. I slide the plate forward a bit from the head, then lock it down tight. The scope is a just a bit tail heavy, but it's still quite serviceable for grab and go viewing.

Thanks, guys.

I bought an extra 504PLONG plate, which enables me to easily switch to binos on the 502HD head. Pictured below are Zhumell 25x100s.

Turns out in my accumulation of astronomy bits and pieces, I already had the part I needed. I have a Manfrotto 546B tripod with the 504HD fluid head which I haven't used very often. Doesn't have the center column so not really suitable for binoculars but it does have the counterbalance control which works quite nicely for my Megrez. Seems very smooth. I think the whole assembly might be an improvement over my Porta II in terms of vibration and comfortable viewing.

A little off kilter. Needs a couple of mounting bolts.

A dovetail mount adapter looks like the way to go, not only for balance, but also for changing telescopes on the mount.
