I've received my Televue AVT-1011 this morning and have attached it to my TV85's clamshell and then to the mount. It feels secure enough, but with one flat side and one angled (on the Televue mounting bar) and the saddle on the mount being angled on both sides with no locking bolts...is it safe enough?

Not safe!

Televue should include a disclaimer for that mounting adapter stating that it does not work with a clamp style mounting saddle, but only with a mounting saddle using a knob retaining bolt that engages the slot on the flat side of the AVT-1011.

A universal type Vixen dovetail bar such as this:

...will lock in securely.

No! Get a dovetail I expensively from Orion. Several lengths are available.

Hmmmm - you seem to be suggesting I should buy some separate dovetail. I think I'll do that!

Many thanks from both myself and my insurance company.
