I use the 50mm orion auto-guider package with my 1370mm AT6RC scope which is quite a disparity. Would adding a barlow to the auto-guider allow the for more accurate corrections and steadier images(CG-5 AGT mount)? I realize this would limit guide star choices but I can't think of any other downsides.
edit: for example, this 2x barlow might do the job?
50mm auto guider + barlow = more accurate guiding?

I can. Those limited star choices make a big difference in terms of SN ratio. And low SN ratio means poor guiding. I can guide to <.5 arc-seconds with a 50mm guider and a guide camera with larger pixels given good seeing. The limitation is your CG-5 mount more than the guider. But by all means try it and see how it works for you.
