The past weeks had some very fine weather in the Low Countries. On holiday I had the opportunity to sketch the Moon 4 days in a row :jump:

The first night the Moon was still very low in the sky and sketching was a battle against time and bad seeing. The shadow on the craterfloor is interesting. The craterwall at the east side must be higher than the north side.

The second night I wanted to sketch Lunar 100-object number 58: Vallis Rheita, but seeing was so bad that I had to change my idea. A pitty that my scanner left some lines on the drawing :(

Edit: a friend made with GIMP a more de-striped version (so I changed the old version)

The third evening seeing was again OK so I sketched the beautiful crater Posidonius (Lunar 100-object number 20). Funny: Uwe sketched at the same time also with a 8 cm refractor this same crater. But his fine sketch got lost in the CN-website-problems

The last evening clouds were rolling in, so I choose an easy target. Ritter en Sabine are probably the result of a twin inpact (Lunar 100-object number 38).

Beautiful drawings.
I like the white on dark paper, I must try it some day.
We had some really nice nights around the same time here in Portugal, and I was compelled to do some lunar sketching for the first time. I enjoyed it so much that I did it three nights in a row.

Jeff, those are some amazing renderings. Seriously great work. Nice technique, Jeff. You captured the moon's beauty nicely.

Jef,

Superb work - clean contrasty and sculptural. Very well done. Each one has its own attraction though my two favs are Poseidon- and the crescent moon. Outdid yourself again Jef.

Jef,

Thank you for posting your outstanding observations of interesting lunar regions and a 4.5 day old Moon. You have recorded a good amount of detail over the lunar surface.

Regards,
Carlos

Jef

Isnt it great when you get a few clear nights in a row?

Always enjoyed your lunar sketches, excellent observations mixed with a tidy sketching style makes them very easy on the eye. :)

I especially like the earth-shine work

I agree, this is one of my better work. But I still have to practice a lot before I can rival you or Erika ;)
