It seems a lifetime ago that I flew back to the UK from a fantastic Winter Star Party. It has taken me several weeks to go through my photos and sketch book and get them ready to share.

Here are my favourite sketches, all made with a 4" f5 refractor, pencil and paper, scanned and then smartened up on the computer.

It certainly brings back some good memories of fantastic skies.

First up is eta carina nebula, the first time that I had seen this wonderful object. I first observed it through Vic Menard's 22" dob so slightly less detailed in my 4" but still pretty fantastic. Eta is still pretty low on the horizon from Florida so I wonder what it must look like overhead? There was a dense open cluster alongside that made a nice pair in the binos.

Best regards,

Mark

The false comet - wow, a stunning object with the merging open clusters adjacent to zeta Sco.

And my old favourite M42, the Orion Nebula. It was nice seeing Orion high in the sky although I had to move my scope around the palm trees - a hard life!

Thank you all for your kind comments. Alas the WSP is but a distant memory.

Mark
