Hi,

This is my very first sketch. I've enjoyed a lot doing it!. A lot of things can be seen with a 4 inch, patience and experience.

That's excellent.

Buddy Barby also observed and drew arm segments in m51 with his 4" apo . This astounded me as Id tried for years in and off in my youth with 4" instruments sct and reflector but never never never any segments. The throughput and contrast in these refractors is in another league and here's s fine example where it shows. This is a fine piece.

This is my very first sketch.

Looks like you're already some years in the business. Great sketch!

Very nice sketch! If you have the opportunity, take a look at what John Mallas, "The Messier Album", Sky Publishing Corp, 1978, sketched of M51 using his 4" Unitron.

Manuel,

That is a wonderful sketch of M-51 in a small scope.
It is great what a small aperture can do from dark, transparent skies.

Frank :)

Buddy Barby? Hey dude thats Barbee NOT Barby, but thanks for remembering that sketch from a few years ago. Manuel that is a really good observation with a 4-inch refractor. Even though there were passing clouds, you had good conditions. Without good seeing conditions these arms are not visible in a 4-inch scope. I was very lucky to have seen them on a good night from our light polluted club field. Here is my sketch from a few years ago for comparison.

Hi,

Thanks for your comments. The seeing was also horrible.

When seeing is good I see 3 stars inside the galaxy with the AP Traveler.

Regards,
Manuel.

Nice sketch Manuel.

M51 really does well under very clear dark skies. And an experienced eye and a contrasty apo don't hurt either!
