Hello guys,

Have you heard anything about the ETA of the new Nexstar Evolution products by Celestron?

I have ordered a 6 incher and I am obviously eager to get it. (Understatement of the day! lol)

Mid April, I was told by my favorite retailer who got the info from a sales reprentative at Celestron the following:

Evo 6: early/mid May
Evo 8: late april/early May
Evo 9.25: they were working on the ETA

Have you guys heard anything else? The late April deadline is already behind us and we are entering early May. If nothing has change, those scopes must be close now!

Thanks

It might be a different situation in the north, but I see that B&H photo says that it can ship the 9.25 in a week, but the 8 not until June 2015. :foreheadslap:

I found this statement by Celestron that says, if I get it right, that the first batch of scopes will be in at the end of May. http://www.cloudynig...ber/6496274/...

I am guessing that Torrance is the city where Celestron's HQ or warehouse is located.

If the starsense accessory is any indication, late May...... 2015 might be cutting it close .

I wonder if they will sell the tripod and mount separately so I could use my 8SE OTA on it?

The mount alone might be a good improvement. I have a rock solid Meade LX200R tripod. It's just a matter of an adapter plate.

Celestron has stated publicly that the mount will not be available separately at the present time.

Is the Evolution meant to replace the Nexstar?

This is speculation on my part, but I doubt the Evolution will replace the SE line. For example, there is a 50% price increase from the 6" SE to the 6" Evo ($799 vs $1199). I don't see Celestron giving up that market segment.

I guesstimate this means the Evolution mount by itself - whenever Celestron decides to sell it by itself - will be at least $800. I just bought a new Nexstar 6/8 for $379 shipped.

It is for the good cause of video astronomy! :). After the scope it will be harder. I will have to choose the vid camera, the reducers, spacers, monitor, wires, etc... Waiting for the scope is the easy part. Hihihi

We are now early June. I emailed Celestron. I am awaiting their answer... I will keep you posted.

Hopefully they will answer that the boat from China arrived earlier today. The scopes are on their way to the warehouse and should be shipped to retailers in the next week... (Am I day dreaming or what? Hihihi!)

As of today, 6-2-14, the B&H website says that expected availability for the 9.25" NexStar is 7-1-14.

Hello, Just letting anyone know that has a pre-order in. My B&H 8" Evo has been shipped.

Looks like they are going out know. I didn't order it too long ago, therefore doubt there is a big line.

Cheers, Brian

Here is the info my favorite retailer got from a Celestron representative:

"Yes, please see below for the ETA’s:

- 12090= Expected late June

- 12091= Expected late June

- 12092= Expected late July"

They change ETA all the time. :( I can not wait to get my Evo 6 inches!
