I'll stay away since you are interested and already bid.

Chuck, I'm not bidding on it - I already have a classic 60mm. (I won't post anything that I'm trying to buy.)

It's already at $405.

That was the sound of yet another Unitron slipping through my grasp.

Don't feel bad Chuck. I'll passed along great deals on two different 114s.

The first was nearly 40 years ago when I put a friend onto one for $50. Kicked myself after.

The second was in the last year. There was on on Houston CL for $200 that I passed along to folks here (and I believe someone here got it IIRC).

I don't feel too bad about missing a deal on a 114. Now, if I missed a deal on an Eq Unitron at half the going rate, seppuku might enter my mind...

The Emil Busch is on the Bay but nobody seemed to care about the rare Goertz 70mm I posted a few weeks ago, so I didn't bother.
Two really rare OLD german scopes for a decent price.

"So I don't get this one. He sells the camera mount, Unibalance, 60mmK eyepiece, solar screens and rod, solar cap, and mount cabinet separately and now sells the rest of the scope somewhat complete?"

That's what I call maximizing greed by minimizing the telescope!

We had discussion on this topic a while back.
IIRC it didn't go well. nuff said

Goto's 40x-80x Astronomical Telescope Making Kit

Now that this has gotten to more than I would be willing to pay, I'm listing it as interesting. Hard to tell, but looks 40mm or smaller.

So I don't get this one. He sells the camera mount, Unibalance, 60mmK eyepiece, solar screens and rod, solar cap, and mount cabinet separately and now sells the rest of the scope somewhat complete? Missing the tripod tray and those are 160 legs. No shot of the right side of the mount to see if it is drilled for the 90 degree gearbox but it also has the graduated Super focuser so it must have been a 160. Sad.

4" Unitron

Looks like TG gets outdoors once in a while.

I tried to buy this yesterday when it was first posted on AM. I was told it was available, but when I responded and provided my address for postage, I was informed I was 2nd in line. Oh well.
It's also posted here on CN.

I'm guessing that the folks on this classic forum have no one to blame but themselves for the ridiculous Unitron prices we are seeing. What was it, $405 for a tray light bulb?

Most astronomers I've asked about Unitron just say, "Oh, those old scopes they used to make a long time ago?" As they turn back to their APOs, SCTs, and Dobs.

I really wanted to bid on this one, I thought it was way cool. I was out of town when the auction ended. Didn't see anyone mention it on here, and yeah I know its a toy. But I still would have liked to have it on my desk, and it went for under $70.00. What a bummer.

I got news back and pictures the German scope around here. It had an objective that was full of fungus. I asked the guy if he would reconsider selling at a lower price and never heard back from him.

I missed it too! I've seen a few over the years, but I am always a bit late. They are totally cool. Good luck snagging one.
