For a 200mm F/5 newt. Its an Orion newt. They sell it on an SVP mount, but I'm not sure its beefy enough. I think the OTA is 20lbs with rings and dovetail, but I've got to check. Just looking for options. I don't need GOTO at all. This is for purely visual.

Any other suggestions?

The atlas is way more mount than I am looking for.

I wonder if the ioptron zeq25 could handle it.

Are you more concerned about the Atlas' weight or cost?

If weight, there is also the lighter weight Sirius. It uses the same electronics as the Atlas and can be used with EQMOD for imaging, but you won't be doing that. I believe it is supposed to be more robust than the zeq25, so more likely to be able to handle your somewhat heavy and long newtonian. It is a little less expensive then the Atlas. The Celestron AVX is on sale now, it is also in the same capacity class as the ZEQ25.

For purely visual the bundled mount might be OK, maybe some owners will join the thread.

If you are looking for a the lowest cost, "simple", EQ mount, the answers are:
1) look at the second hand market. Lots of low cost RA motorized mounts are out there for next to nothing, there is one on the Classifieds for $100 right now.
2) Join a local Astronomy club and make some friends, most of us have one of these in our basement that we will let go to a fellow club member for next to nothing (sometimes less than that). I gave away my perfectly fine 1980's eq mount for a glass of draft beer.

And for visual use the SVP mount will be "ok" for visual with a 20 pound OTA. Though, for about the same price you can get a ASGT-CG5

Thanks for the info.

Might see if anan asgt-cg5 shows up used.
