I think the best place for a straight-through finder is toward the sky-end of the OTA. That way when you look through it, you won't have to crouch down as much.  Of course these telescope companies insist on putting all finder mounts close to the focuser-end of Cats and refractors. Bad idea unless the finder is a RACI.
