Hello,

here is my humble try of M13 sketch in Telementor (click on small thumbnail to get full size version):

Posted Image

Conditions were not the best, small town backyard with large humidity and quickly changing conditions (LM~4.5-5.0). Still I could clearly see few stars in M13 halo, together with hints of fuzzy chains.

Thanks guys, I have been trying to sketch this cluster for several times. But already in my 80mm refractor, the object is so complex that I simply failed and I was never satisfied with the result. Here I have a feeling, for the first time, that I have finally captured, at least partially, the cluster's look in the eyepiece under not so perfect sky. Now, I think I'm ready to give it a one more try in 80mm.

Sasa,
Nice sketch. You captured the appearance of the core very well. I was just showing M13 to some friends the other night--a real showpiece.

A fine capture of the great northern globular cluster in Hercules.

Great sketch! I know two 7th mag stars near M13 but I cant remember orange! I will check out! I can see NGC 6207 nearby in my 16 inch dobsonian.

Perception of the colors depends quite a lot on an eyepiece. I remember I was comparing on M13 in the same scope views through several 15-16 mm eyepieces. The colors were striking in 16 mm TMB mono, visible in CZJ O-16 and completely washed out in ATC 15mm Erfle.

BTW, here is the image of M13 that I took some time ago. It shows the colors:

It is a stunning sketch. It shows better than any other sketch of M13 I've seen, how you can just begin to see lots of stars across the center with averted vision.

And the image is breathtaking as well.

Clear skies!
