Bought  S/H Today Everything works But I can't tighten the Tripod Knob any further and I have a slight annoying Fork wobble!

What do I need to do or check

Thanks Martin?

Martin,

Often times I  have to lift the entire unit, then return it to the ground and I can tighten it further by hand. I think the leg spreader catches on a leg making it hard to turn.

I find kicking each leg out in turn while tightening it up helps a lot.

I use a half inch nut in place of the scope and tighten the legs while it is still easy to lift the whole thing.  I then lengthen the legs to whatever height I need and make the mounting base as level as possible.  Only then do I take the nut off and install the scope and tighten it down.  It sounds like a wasted step, but I really like the thought that there will be no adjustment required with the scope mounted to the tripod.
