I love Stowe.  This time my wife insists that I bring one of my scope to observe. (isn't she great?)  Will probably be my C6 or my 102 refractor.

Any suggestions as to from where to observe?  Any fields or parks inside or outside town?

I was trying to use the CSC to check out the light pollution and I put in the lat and long but it only gives you the closest observatory, not the point.   Am I doing that right?

Thanks very much!

Bob

Bob,

I believe there is an active astronomy club in the Burlington area (1/2 hour west), they might be an excellent resource for you to contact.

Stowe is in the yellow zone. It's a touristy town so probably more light than you expect. Might be OK but probably not great depending on where you are.

See http://www.jshine.ne...onomy/dark_sky/ to scout a location.
