I'll be on vacation in the next few weeks and I'm thinking about driving up to Cherry Springs state park here in PA. This will be my first time there and I'm looking for any tips you may have on what to take, do and don't, best spot to set up at etc.Has anyone ever rented of their observatories? Should I consider renting one? Two are open for the week I'm off. Any tips you can provide are welcome!

Hi Dan

only been there once.. Nice and dark.. I might be there next new moon on either side of the star party... Oh, check that out ("black Forrest star party")...but I think registration is full.. So if you get there while the star party is going on you have to park in the lot across the street where white light is permitted.. So not ideal for you . I hope to be there next Minh as I said, meeting a friend who's also from PA there.

oh, you know about the no showers thing? I guess there's a campground down the road you can drive to or something?

Others will chime in, I know a bunch of folks here who go regularly.

youll love how dark it is.

oh bring WaRM clothes for the night...
