I have a 6" RC mounted on an Orion Sirius (EQG) mount.  To keep the weight down I am guiding with a 50 mm 190mm fl guide scope, guided with a Meade DSI.

I have had good luck with the 50mm guide scope, but I am probably at the limit of what it can guide.

I can use my ST80 to guide with.  Does anyone have an opinion of the mount capacity of the Sirius?

Would a 6" RC plus a ST80, DSLR (Canon Rebel) overwhelm this mount?

Anyone tried it?

It does not sound bad too me, I have heard good stuff about the Sirius, and I do not think that would surpass it's weight capacity. I haven't tried it of course, and I do not own this mount, but, from what I have heard, it will probably be fine.

Also, why don't you just try it and let us know?

I use a 50mm guide scope with a 6" RC on a LXD55. Guide with DSI pro and used my K5 DSLR and at times used a friends FLI ML8300C wihich is pound heavier than the DSLR. I get 10 min subs when calmer and shoot 5 min if breezy. I believe you likely could do similar with your Sirius.

More toward your question about using the 80mm. I would keep things as light as possible. I don't think I would use an 80mm on my setup.

By the way, nice telescope! I am considering buying one of these!

I highly recommend it (the 6" RC).

I wanted something at around 1000 mm fl and find this about right for what I want to do.  The 8" would be better if you can afford it.

Remember that it is an AP scope.

For M31 the 750 mm fl of my 80ED is better.

The Sirius and Atlas can handle it, but I wouldn't go much longer with these mounts.
