Atlas Polar Alignment

Last night was the first night out with the new Atlas. Everything went nice and smooth except I was stumped when it got to a step in Polar Alignment. How do you rotate the reticle in the polar finder to get the relative positions of the Big Dipper and Cassiopia to line up with the sky??? After scratching my head for 30 minutes I finally just rotated the entire RA axis. But there has to be an easier way...?

Rotating the right ascension axis is the way you line up the positions. Unlock the RA lever and turn.

If you're following the PA procedure in the EQMOD documentation, you should do it before you load the mount. Otherwise, depending on the Polaris HA, you risk hitting a tripod leg when swinging around.
Note that if you want to stay calibrated you shouldn't unlock the RA clutch--just slew using EQMOD or a wireless hand controller.
The Universe is an awesome place. I'm glad I live here.
