EQ 5 / 6 GPS question

With a Sky-watcher EQ 5 / 6 GPS ... what happens if you unplug the GPS after it's got its bearings and youve done your alignment? I dont see how there would be any downside if youve already aligned. Right/wrong?

I have the orion atlas eq6, should be the same! shouldn't do anything but I'm not sure. heres how I set it up
without plugging the hand controller into the mount!
hook up the gps to the controller and then plug the power adaptor into the hand controller. fellow any instructions on the controller,, let it search and lock on. then disconnect the power, unplug gps and your done. then plug controller into mount and start your setup.
the hand controller saves the last entered site that was input into it.
tip. make sure you do this outside as the gps will not pickup anything if your in the house. found this out the hard way!

You're right.....no downside. After alignment...unplug!
