Also, the 40D and 50D are pretty old tech, much higher noise than the newer T2i..(again, like Hap mentioned..)
Honestly, go for the T2i. It is a better model, imho..
better sensitivity and noise performance, and newer tech. not much, but noticeable (again, IMHO)..
With T2i's easily being had for ~$595 including modification(and 6 Month Warranty, filter costs, etc! I know a guy who knows a guy ) it is only a few $ more than the T1i, and you get that much more for your $ with the T2i
