“I am the only person to ever ace a 1951 USAF resolution test. My 'to observe' list says 'done'. I do not use charts or atlases when I starhop; men do not use maps. One of my sketches won an SBIG deep sky imaging contest. I am the life of star parties I have never attended. I never say anything looks like a faint fuzzy - not even a faint fuzzy. Pilots aim green laser pointers at me. Don Pensack proofreads my CN forum posts.” - The Most Interesting Astronomer in the Universe

I own one half of a 42 year old Atco 10x50 binocular. I threw it at my brother in 1975 and broke the other half so I took a hack saw and turned it into a monocular.
Quote:Jim, You're right. I've owned quite a few sct's an some have less than average optics, while others have good optics. I finally settled on a c8 that is as close to perfect as I can find. The only other one that matched this mid 90's black tube was my friend's new nexstar orange tube. They are GREAT deal indeed. The ones being sold by by high point now are left over OTA's from the big sale 2 years back when the nexstar was $999.00. Afterward they split up the remaining mounts and tripods to the deal they have now.
Quote:God, you guys are lucky, in Sweden it costs 1400$! Even so, i can see myself owning one in the future...
George You know you're getting on when the equipment you farmed with is showing up as suburban lawn ornaments.
