Quote:It was fascinating to see Winter objects (Orion etc.) in the evening, then see spring objects (M51, M101, M65, M66 etc.) and then finally summer objects (Vega, Deneb, Altair) all in a single night.
Quote:Just got back. We had a great time observing and imaging. High clouds came in around 11 and persisted until 1:30 or so. Then it cleared up and the transparency was back to excellent. It was fascinating to see Winter objects (Orion etc.) in the evening, then see spring objects (M51, M101, M65, M66 etc.) and then finally summer objects (Vega, Deneb, Altair) all in a single night.--Ram
Quote:One thing to be careful about the Umptanum site as it gets warmer are ticks.
Quote:Thanks for the warning, Ajay. I despise the little buggers. I'd think a rattlesnake or three might wander through there in the summer, too. Too cold now.
Even worse than ticks and Rattlers are some human campers. In summer they have campfires burning all night that disturbs transparency. Campgrounds are not great for astronomy in Summer.
Quote: one very large one that got spooked as I drove by & he flew ahead of me, startling the heck out of me!
Quote:SORRY Everyone, the weather is not going to get any better for a while now...I just took on another "project camera".
