Is it really possible that this stuff is theirs, or just accumulated low bid trying to turn a profit/yard/estate sale stuff? I just know when I sell something, I go out of my way for a long, detailed and honest description.

Quote:You know I've made hundreds of used purchases with almost all being very satisfactory. I've also sold a number of things over the years and have had a few arrived damaged. When you ship insured (through the PO)the seller cannot file a claim in your behalf but rather really has to have the buyer do it after the seller sends him the orginal insurance receipt.Cubersome for sure but thats how my insurance claim experience has worked.Once I sent out a perfect celestron 100mm ED in the most robust packaging I had ever seen. I literally stood upon it prior to packing and nothing,it was perfect.Sure enough when the buyer received the scope it was badly damaged.I sent him the insurance receipt and he had no problem getting his compensation from the PO.It can happen, dos'nt mean thats what happened when you bought from someone with high rateings but may explain why he asked you to file the claim.Of course if nothing else the seller should ask, bottom line, what do you want me to do,refund or assist if possible with your claim file. I have also refunded in an instance were the buyer was unwilling to file an insurance claim.I will always continue to buy and sell used equipment and can speak from experience in saying the good cnighters/amarters who resell far outweigh the bad.

Quote:Bob,I go thru phases, lately I switched out eyepieces, and one day because of you I will switch to a c14. I give short descriptions but I describe the items fairly. In most cases the items are like new (ask Bill Whitehead) he purchased a few of my Axioms and marks anywhere. Even the boxes were new with all the paperwork.I recently sold an eyepiece that had a mark on the glass, I could only see it in some angles but I fully disclosed it.

Quote:My scope (C8) and mount (CG5-GT) were purchased used on AM. The seller of the mount was reasonably local, and was able to do the transaction in person (and to his massive credit, he drove the majority of the way to get to me), and the C8 arrived just as described, and was protected by more foam than a Tempurpedic mattress factory. I've bought several eyepieces and filters as well, and have yet to have one bad experience. Of course now after reading this I'm paranoid, because I literally JUST sent someone $750 for a used C9.25, so...

Quote:I've purchased a couple of used astro items over the years. Most where good. I brought my Paramount ME on AM. It was not a face to face purchase. After I received the mount I quickly realized it had some internal wiring damage due to a rodent. The seller claimed it was OK before it was shipped, but covered the $100 repair cost.

Quote:I worry sometimes after I sell some of my used stuff. I'm a newbie and I try to baby my stuff, but just about everything I have, has a mark or a scratch on it. It just happens. I just sold some scopes that I bought over three years ago. They've seen plenty of dew and pollen, and I have reconfigured them many times. I didn't advertise them in excellent condition but great-good. But, I did ship them through the PO with insurance for more than the buyer paid. Packing is an art, especially when your strapped for cash and making due with what you have on hand. I don't want a bad review, and hope the buyers are satisfied, especially considering the money they paid, compared to new. I still worry. In this instance, I've never shipped big items through the PO and I worry.

A buyer once claimed it never showed up, and of course, it the one you ship w/o delivery confirmation. I gave them their money back.... But it was an interesting coincidence imho.... Never ship anything, no matter how inexpensive, w/o delivery confirmation or even signature proof with high value items. And you never know who rides around in neighborhoods looking to steal stuff off of people's doorsteps.

Even if I want what they're selling.
