Quote: I have been quite interested in the lengthy discussion under the heading, "Unlearning the Constellations," which begins here.Drawing from that conversation, what I would like to see in Sky Safari is the ability to view an object, star, constellation, asterism, etc. from a perspective above the galactic disk. I would like to to see where an object (or the components of an object) is/are placed within our galaxy.(And Walter, welcome to CN!)
Quote:I'm new to using Sky Safari - it's a wonderful tool for the most part. A few things I'd like to see off the top of my head: When using the search feature, an ability to manually enter RA/Dec co-ordinates (useful when connected to a scope for goto/push-to) Display object details/description in a separate pane/smaller window, so you can navigate the sky map while this information is displayed (for tablets/notebooks with larger displays). Ability to display an object's description with a single click/tap, without having to go into the details, then the description.

Quote:I use an old Palm program called Planetarium that allows the user to import observing lists and gives the option (among other things) to show the stars and only the objects on a selected list if desired. If someone was working on the Herschel List for example, the sky view would be easier to use if only Herschel objects were shown.
