Quote:For the past 12 years ... I've used an old cotton bed sheet to cover my 12" SCT. It's a light weight and breathable material ... yet keeps the dust and dirt off the scope.
Money can't buy happiness, but it sure makes living with misery a lot easier!
Quote: Quote: I was also told to bring in my EPs Not to leave them in the Obs . I have mine in an excellent case that seals tightly. I have always left them in the dobservatory. That's my idea of an observatory; not to have to lug things back & forth for viewing.
Quote:@megabusa, the only clear threat voiced I that thread was from pick-n-pluck type foam where there is clear evidence of partial shedding, and suspicion of outgassing. I keep my eyepiece lens caps on so whatever effect there might be isn't going to touch the glass. My observatory is insulated so there is a minimum of temperature swings in the scope room and warm room. Once I get the humidifier and AC/heater in place I'll feel safer :-)

Quote: I seem to remember that some folks reported using dust seals of the hair brush type to prevent dust from entering the closed observatory.
Enjoy the sky,
