What Edmund has is the "volcano top" orthos, not the "HD" type that University Optics is reintroducing. The Edmund variety is good too, but if essentially the same as the "volcano top" variety that University Optics used to sell, well they are generally considered to be just a bit inferior to the HD's being slowly reintroduced. Still and all the "volcano tops" are good eyepieces and you can "almost get" a complete set now (there is no 9 mm available in the Edmund set).
Quote:Ok, from what Barry said, scratch the Edmunds from my post above but still, Lyra and UO start with 12.5/18 and 6/12.5 respectively, I wonder why that is.
My eyepieces are made from the waste product of exploding stars.

Quote:Not at home to take a look, but it appears to me from the picture that the new HD 12mm has a longer black top to it then the original 12mm HD. Is this HD a little taller then the original??? (Like I said, not at home to check, so I could be wrong, it does appear longer in the picture.)
