Quote:Brian: we first used the R filter (Astrodon I-series) and the contrast was not as good. For some reason the UV filter prouced better contrast After that we used IR filter and the contrast was again poorer than in UV, but better than R. Possibly there is more scattered/stray light in the OTA in R than in UV? I don't know. Any thoughts on this would be most welcome.
Quote:deSitter: at least the small brightening at 12 o'clock position followed by a slightly darker gap on its right is IMHO genuine atmospheric detail. I also feel that all other variations in the brightness of the ring are most probably genuine atmospheric detail, as they are present regardless of the number of frames used in the final stack. We are working on an improved image, but it's next to impossible to align the images on the dim part of the ring – so far we haven't had success either with Registax6 or AutoStakkert2!.
