Thanks Eric and Tom. Just sad to know that so many families in San Diego County are without homes. Eric it was quite a relief to hear you and yours were safe from the devastation this firestorm has caused.

Rich - so I take it you have had pretty bad skies for observing?

In all seriousness, my family and I were evacuated during the Hayman fire a few years ago. After all was said and done, it was rather comforting to know that all that really mattered in life to me fit into a minivan (wife, 3 kids, 2 dogs and family photos) and it put a lot of the day to day stuff into perspective. Astronomy has been a great hobby for the visual reminder that we're nothing more than a dot in the sky. I'm glad you and yours are safe.

Thanks for the kind thoughts Lee. Yes, family, friends and memories are by far the most important, everything else is replaceable.

Rich and Eric,

I'm glad to hear you're all right and have returned to your homes safely. Hope you'll get some rain in California eventually (here it's been raining for about a week now...)

I am glad that you, Eric and many other people of Southern California are slowly recovering their lives after this horrible disaster. It reminds us of the precious persons and memories in our lives after passing through such an ordeal. We all look forward to your future observations even if they are "reddish tinged" (from all the smoke in the air).

Carlos

Ares and Carlos, thank you both for your concern. Can't wait for some rain to wash the smoke and ash away, but a lot of folks here have to be concerned about mud slides and flows from the runoff that would accompany a good drenching.

Eric,

That is great news. I hope that the region can recover as quickly as possible. The best of luck to you and your family.
