Mr. Onions (btw, you never did say what kind of onion you are, Vidalia?),

With a population of over 60 million, and only 130,373 square kilometers (50,337 square miles for us Yanks) to house them on, and millions and millions of trees, I have to conclude that a goodly portion the population of England is now living in tree houses.

If that's so, then I think it's even more imperative that Kenny's newsletter be written on onion skins since I don't think he would want to displace his fellow countrymen by cutting down their homes to make paper.

Our trees are not as wide as your"s Brocko.
As for what Onion am I?
Im a, great big onion.

Mr Onions.
P.S. Hey Brocky, I had my TMB 80/480 out last night the moon was out so I thought I would get an hours observing in before I settled down to watch the Glastonbury coverage on TV. I was using a TV Nagler zoom on 3mm to achieve 160x what a beautiful sight. I could see the footprints left by Neil Armstrong, thats how good the TMB"s are.
Remember Brocko, its not how big a thing is,its what you do with it that counts.

Mr.Onions ,

Last night was damp all over ther UK .

Did you follow my advice and apply silicone sealant to protect the TMB against moisture ingress ?

BTW -- those footprints must look strange with the reversed image !

Regards , Kenny

Mr. Onions, I apologize for taking this OT for a moment but I have just acquired an 80/480 scope myself. I am now in need of a very short eyepiece and that Nagler 3-6 seems about perfect for a short FL 80mm scope.

Is the 10mm eye relief OK for you and does the smallish 50° AFOV diminish your enjoyment? I'm used to 65° eyepieces but think the 3-6 zoom would still be a great addition to get the most out of my new little scope. Being able to adjust the magnification to meet conditions seems like a huge advantage over fixed FL eyepieces in that range.

Thanks,

Rich V

Rich V,your choice of small refractor is outstanding but,I expected nothing less from you.

I think the 10mm eye relief of the 3-6mm Nagler zoom is perfect for a non spectacle wearer { I do wear specs for long distance}.

The field stop is very easily seen and its a beautifuly made piece of engineering, there is a little bit of off axis false colour but,you would expect this in a zoom ep.

I love this EP as do all who own it.

I bet you love the 80/480 Rich. The optics are exqusite aren"t they.

All the best,
Mr Onions.

Thanks for your opinion, Mr. O!

I'm just not used to such a short FL scope and it'll take a little getting used to. My eyepiece collection is for MUCH longer scopes with 7mm being my shortest.

You and Steuart Dewar both love the N3-6 and I respect your opinions. Thanks!

Best regards,

Rich V

I don"t find the 50 degree aparant field restrictive and I use it at high power with an alt az mount, too.

I bought the 480version for wider field binoviewing,If I was just going to use it as a cyclopse I would go for the 600mm FL version, you CAN"T beat the LOMO lenses on the TMB"s maybe Astro-Physics but, they don"t make 80mm"s and even then it would be a maybe!
