- Opportunity knocks for observation of the Moon for most of every month, not for a fraction of a year depending on the hemisphere of the observer. - There's almost no such thing as choosing a wrong eyepiece for observing the Moon. Every vantagepoint is an adventure. - After an evening of peering at gossamer DSO's, it is always a great pleasure to observe the Moon. - Humankind has been studying the Moon for 40,000 years. Never commonplace, like a favorite uncle, the Moon is always there.

- It throws enough light to help me find the things I drop on the ground when I'm looking for DSO's.

Reasons to observe the moon? Well, as I found out tonight, it impresses the heck out of drunken college students who will then offer free drinks and nachos!

The ONLY night-time celestial object for which it is sooo cool to wear polarized "Moon Glasses" when observing.
