These are all really nice. I've got tons of bookmarks of beauties like Chris's as I plan my 16". These ultra-portable ultralights are so inspiring and I believe they are defining where the mass market dobs will be in 10 years.
My projects are in my avatar and the links after my sig. - j

i broke down my old orion solid tube and used most of the parts to build this truss and lowes was my supply house. worked great and much lighter. i installed two lightweight springs in the back to control the latitude movement.

This is a fairly old picture, but I like it. The scope on the left is a 10" f/6.7 Newtonian I built during the summer of 1976, the scope on the right is a 16.5" f/6.7 I built in 1999. It was neat to get these two f/6.7's set up next to each other.

This is my 10" F4.5 with Orion optics I bought in 1994, in its third tube, mounted on an equatorial platform. It is much easier to handle the optical tube since I daylighted the middle part of it.

Here's my latest offering, a 13.1" f/5.3. I was going to try and go ultralight with it when I had a 2 door car with no backseat. Then a grandson came along and I decided I needed a car with a backseat. So in the end, I went 8 pole, thinking I could now carry more, and it would be easiest to sell if I go that way (I have a scope surplus). I have always enjoyed so many of the minimalist designs and now that the garage is warming up, I'm thinking it might be time for me to make one...
I recall a similar thread like this I posted to a couple of years ago. Here are like 20 more pages to enjoy:
old CN thread
Thanks,
Don

Hello Jon Isaacs,
Pardon my drooling but do I see a Gios Torino in there?!?
Nice to see another astronomical cyclist or bicycling astronomer.....
I have a 29 yr-old Romic touring bike and another bike with a frame I built myself with the old Nervex lugs. Mostly Campy. cool.
Will post my 10" f/4.5 in a bit....
