I had my sick PST fixed back in December of 2005. I just discovered that my second objective has gone bad also (see photo). It looks like I am stuck with the expense of sending it back in again. I am not a happy camper.

It looks like the Coronado web site is no longer working. Since Coronado has moved, does anyone know their current contact information and/or web site?

Thank you

I believe these are the new contacts.

Look under Coronado Series Filters, Telescopes.

I'am also going to send mine back a second time.

Sorry Darren,

My PST also developed twice the "disease". First time I had to pay shipment to my Spanish dealer but second time I contacted directly with Meade Europe (Rhede, Germany) and they sent me a tranport agency to pick up the PST and returned back to me without any charge.

IMHO, Meade/Coronado should assume all transport charges if the PST is still whitin the guaranty period.

Good luck with Meade USA.

It may be but the picture does not really show the detail of the coating breakdown. You might try another image or just get it serviced anyway.

Jim,
It looks like it might have the problem but like Chris said it is hard to tell from the photo. I have found that the best photos of it are taken at an angle to the front objective on a tripod in sunlight.

Does Coronado charge anything to fix the rust problem?

They didn't charge me... they never even asked about warranty info. They simply provided the instructions to send them the scope and they did the repairs. They were very professional and responsive.

Well, my BF-30 just failed (for the 2nd time) on my Maxscope 90/90 and Meade said I had to ship them the BF-30 at my own expense, which I expected and not a problem, but then they told me to include a $15.00 check or money order to cover RETURN shipping!?

I asked if this was a "new" policy" and they said that it was about 8 months old and that only defective products that were less than 30 days old from the date of purchase would be shipped back free of charge.

Mike,

I hate that for you. I ordered a PST last week. I am going ot pick it up today. I was a little nervous about what the future holds, but you are talking about thousands of dollars compared to my 600. I hope it all turns out ok for you. I do worry about viable options for all this solar equipment that everyone owns if there is no factory service someday. I know it is all speculation, but still scary. Keep us posted on how things go.

Greg M.

The nice lady on the phone told me I had to include $15 when I sent my under warranty CaK PST in for repairs back in mid December.

All my solar stuff is now in pelican cases with desiccant packs. I don't know if this will help, but I'm hopeful that I won't have to have an anual $15 fee!

Meade changed the warranty period on the PST from 5 years to 1 year so that $15 shipping fee may soon turn into much more to get it repaired out of warranty for anyone that purchased a new unit. Hopefully they will continue to support it in years to come.

Hey guys,

I have not really seen it mentioned, though it probably has and I missed it, but do the new blue objectives seem to be ok? I have newer style one as of today with the blue objective and I am just curious.....should I run my dehumdifier in my scope room?

Greg

They got me on that too when I sent my PST in for a second repair.
