Indeed - the idea was that a more easterly site would have a higher probability of clear skies at this time of year. But anything east is going to be a longer drive no matter where you go, so maybe an alternative approach is to have a Plan A (MSH) and a contingency Plan B (East). If the weather forecast looks good for MSH, say about Wednesday prior, we mobilize to MSH and if it looks wet we opt out to our Plan B site

Yeah, I like that whole plan, back up is always a good thing. Last weekend we took a mini-get-a-way to Skamania\Hood river and over to Goldendale. Typical...cloudy in Skamania & clear in Goldendale and warmer too. 4 hours for us the back way with a stop or two.
It happened to be opening day for the sail boarders in Hood river.

Thats funny...what were you doing there? After brunch we went to Maryhill and did some photography, then went home via Yakima\I-90.

I like the plan A/Plan B thingy! I'm game. We've been over to Maryhill a few times, I'd like to go to one of the concerts there this year...they just redid the entire venue. Wine is pretty good also!
There always seems to be some level of wind at Maryhill due to the gorge.
He Bill, one of the guys that works in my company lives in Hood River because he is a competitive wind surfer.

Didn't like the 35mm pan in your scope? I find that I don't use mine either since I bought the 20mm Nagler T5...that is my favorite EP now...

I was looking over there and thinking you lived somewhere in the vicinity. What's your Lat/Long?

I'd think it would still get use in the 102. Or do you have something else for an even wider field. At f/8.6 you could easily justify a 40mm Paragon.

Wouldn't that be a great combination! I'm patiently waiting for the 30mm Paragon but I'm afraid it is still in vapor stage of availability.

Supposedly the Paragons are coming from a different manufacturer than the Planetaries and won't be effected by the current brouhaha over those.
