(Apologies to Yahoo Michigan_astronomy members for this cross-post, but I just had to progress from "stranger" to "newbie" )
For all of you who have the Denkmeier II Newtonian binoviewer, be aware that the aluminum cap that threads onto part "S" can freeze up. This happened to me at the NIAGfest, where many tried but none succeeded in freeing it up. Russ at Denkmeier is taking care of it and he mentioned that others have had this problem. If it happens, his suggestion is to (counter-intuitively) tighten it by turning it "ON" or clockwise until it spins freely. Then, carefully rethread it and back it off.
Since I'm sending the parts to him, I decided to exchange my part "O" and buy the new double arm Power X Switch. With it, I can instantly change the power through the binos by 1.4X, 2X, or 2.5X. I'm so impressed with Denkmeier Optical -- they really have flexible and innovative products.
