[Re: csa/montana]       #1030582 - 07/05/06 03:25 PM Edit   Reply   Quote Quick Reply   In general, the coatings used on different glass types vary in color due to different chemical composition of the coatings. the most widely used coating is Magnesium fluoride, which is blue-violet. Many of the green coatings include rare earth oxides, and are also possibly the result of several layers of coatings, i.e. :multicoated. Most of the eyepiece manufacturers keep the actual composition of these coatings highly proprietary (top secret!). I see all sorts of color in my eyepieces, green, blue, red, violet and even yellow.
