"Transparent Dome" Images of Arizona Observatory
      #1046492 - 07/16/06 05:41 PM Attachment (56 downloads)

I gave a club talk in Sierra Vista, Arizona this past Friday night, and we stayed at Dave Healy's house. Dave runs Junk Bond Observatory using a 32" Ritchey-Chrétien telescope. He agreed to take some nighttime images of his observatory under the mostly cloudy sky. By rotating the slit of the dome past the telescope during a long exposure, the telescope shows through, creating a sort of transparent dome effect. The pictures are here.

The red night light makes the effect. Very good.
