Here is another picture of the rainbow. I was listning to Levy when it appered and was standing in the road anyway to left and got the camera. I don't know what I missed but it was definitely one of those moments that I had to get a picture of (or two).

Hey Nate, there's that good looking Motorhome again...
TMSP was just AWESOME this year. I couldn't believe the skies. Even when it clouded up during the day, we had GREAT skies at night.

Jason - nice pictures on your site. Also like the one in the forum post here. How much exposure does it take to get broad sky shot like that? I am wondering what type of picture I pull off with a tripod mounted digital at 15 or 30 seconds of exposure?

Very nice shot. What were the settings for this unguided photo?

Thanks, I'm glad you like them! All of my wide-field shots were taken with a Canon 350XT, 1600iso, 13 seconds using a Sigma 30mm F1.4 DC lens stopped down to F2.0. If I go any longer than 13 seconds I can see star trailing, but the lens is so fast that I still pick up enough signal. These are single shots with minimal gamma/levels adjustment in Photoshop.

Thanks for pointing that image out, KA. I just noticed a faint blue fuzzy area in the lower left of the spiral arms. Anyone know what that is?

knuklhdastnmr,
I used a Canon 350XT mounted to a Televue NP101 on an unguided GM-8.

Brent those were your scope mounts???
Impressive. I checked them out on Friday, and was very impressed. You were not around, but I looked just the same.
Great work. I even think they posted the awards on the table Mtn site already...

Those of us who didn't have vehicle trouble got a nice preview of those beautiful mounts during rain soaked MSHSP-II.

Yes, I seem to recall that drive up the Mt. in the middle of a rain cloud, it was nice meeting you all. I hope the next attempt at the Mt. will fair a tad better.

Hey....I was Proud, and Wet. I just didn't (DO) what you guys did and get together.. No fault of my own I can assure you..... It was never my plan to haul LBM all they way down there just to haul him all the way back without even a peek.
