      #1088955 - 08/11/06 10:09 AM Attachment (30 downloads)

I'm building up an attachment by the main house.
the excavation ground I've towered to a hill
remembering in appearence the Mount Elbrus in the Caucasus Mountains.
high is 5.60 meter, in scale to the original 1:1000.

Now I will planting, plants are not 1: 1000, not bonsai either

what plants you can suggest me?

Very nice - a lot of potential here.

Maybe dwarf conifers of some sort, to represent pines and other evergreens on the mountain?

Iblis, as much as I'd love to help you design or give suggestions, I couldn't possibly do so without seeing what the finished house and layout is. And then there's the problems of what kind of soil do you have, where will the light be at different times of the day, what is your hardiness zone, elevation, etc.

The best thing to do is go your local nursery and they have people experienced with your area to give you some pointers.

In any case, please keep us updated on your progress, it sounds like it will be lovely there.

By foster do you mean come back monthly and tend to the plantings that I do for my clients? If so, yes. And I do have my own gardens as well, but since we've moved into town, the garden at my home is very small. The problem is that I seem to take care of everyone else's gardens but my own.

I also grow nursery crops, but the gardening/landscape design and installation side of the business has taken off so well that I am going to drop the growing side of the business for a few years. Growing is what I really enjoy, but it doesn't pay as well. Plus I'm a caregiver for my elderly grandmother and time is limited to do all three.

But I am nothing as grand as a landscape architect. Surely you need no assistance from me on what to plant in your area. After finding out what you do for a career, I'm am especially looking forward to seeing your gardens evolve!

Click on this link, Iblis. I'm betting you'll know what it is after looking at it.

Tricyrtis hirta

It is one of my favorite flowers and they grow well in my climate with all our woodlands. My favorite flower, even above the Toad Lilies, are Daisies.

Ah, Erika, you live the "Japanische Krötenlilie".
A nice flower, but will not grow here in the harsh climate,

so I look at it only in books

Beautiful photos. I've got two out of the three growing in my gardens. My mother has the last one in hers.

I use the calendula as an herb for soaps and bath fizzies.

How about some tiny white flowers around the top of Mount Elbrus to simulate snow?
