A Christmas clock. Couldn't resist going to Goodwill this morning. A lot of folks donate heavily just after Christmas and for me it payed off. Got this really nice Linden cathedral anniversary clock. Not your usual Anniversary clock as this one is housed in a wood and glass case. The action balls are real crystal and it has some burl wood veneer. Chimes Westminster. Nothing needed but a little TLC for $5.86.
Up to 66 (36 are chimers) head count.

Another town clock for you Remy,,,, looks old but it's really not, according to the plaque it was put up for the new millenia.
The building in the background is the Warren County courthouse.

Remy when was the last time you saw one of these? I lost the second hand years ago, and no replacement for them.

I have one similar to yours on my front porch. You can steal a second hand from another clock. If it's a quartz movement you may find a replacement hand at your local thrift store. I sometime buy broken clocks at Goodwill just for the parts. Howard Miller made good clocks.

I guess you could rightly do a study on outdoor clocks especially the pole variety. I'll bet there are thousands in the USA and much more abroad.

My clock juices were flowing this morning so after the monsoons stopped, I made my way over to Goodwill and found this nice little Sheffield (made in Der Fatherland!). It's what I call, for lack of a better description, a desk grandfather. It is a total mechanical 8 day movement and is housed in a antique brass case. It's about 8" tall and 3" wide. It needed a general clean-up and some oil and so far it's pretty close to WWV. Oh yes, it even had the key with it which is unusual for a thrift store clock. For $3.99 it will continue it's ticking life with me.
