Sony Alpha DSLR-A100 new
      #1102965 - 08/19/06 01:37 PM

Since Sony released a 10 megapixel DSLR, I wonder if Sony Alpha DSLR-A100 has been used for astrophotography? Also, Nikon just announced another 10 megapixel DSLR, D80. The price is not too high for both of them.

I was trying to decide whether to buy an EOS 350D or wait for the A100 a months ago. I was primarily interested in the in-body image stabilization. My thought was that I'd save money overall vs. a Canon outfit with IS lenses. However, the initial Sony lenses lacked a manual focus ring, which was unacceptable to me, and when I found lenses I felt would work for me, the total cost came out the same, so I went with the Canon for the better overall third party support.

None of which has any bearing on astrophotography, but I was thinking about features I'd want when the camera wasn't mounted on the telescope.

I'm really very glad I bought the Canon. Current reviews say the A100's noise levels aren't very good compared to the EOS 350D.
