I see it now. I looked before posting it but missed it. I saw the first one and checked it to make sure it wasn't the animated version.

Hi guys
Just an update... see PixInsight's homepage, becouse there is a new upgrade wich contains a new process: DynamicBackgroundExtraction (DBE). It helps a lot in the task of vigneting removal. Take a look at the tutorials section to see how it works.

I've updated my grayscale image processing tutorial to include a step by step demonstration of processing a deep sky image (M64) with specific instructions for Levels and Curves. Go here for the tutorial:
http://ricksastropics.blogspot.com
So if you have a monochrome (black & white) imager or are looking for a better way to process your luminance channel you should find this useful.
Look for the 'printer friendly' version which I just completed.

Here are some image processing examples using data taken with an Optical Guidance Systems 32" Ritchey-Chretien scope and SBIG STL-11000m CCD Camera. The examples include links to download the raw data files. To execute the same processes you will need CCDSharp (Free), MaxIm DL (Not Free), and Photoshop (Not Free). The raw files are in FITS form, and are 20mb each (4 or 5 files per example).
You can, of course, just browse the example without any software or downloads to review the techniques employed.

Suk et al, I notice that many of the original tuts on the opening of the thread are no longer active. There are however many fine new Photoshop resources popping up.
Don Waid has released a DVD as has Adam Block, Jerry Lodriguss's DSLR and Wodaski's Zone disks/books both cover PS to some extent. Ken Crawford and Ricky Bennion have some nice free videos. Ireland's 'Photoshop Astronomy' is definitve but text even at its best is harder to apply.
My tutorials, both free and ppv streaming download have moved to http://www.ip4ap.com . Like some of the others, we see the power of visual instruction as a way to help you climb the learning curve quickly!
Enjoy,
-------------------- Best to you, Warren
