Astronomy Podcasts new
      #1141323 - 09/10/06 08:22 AM

I'm looking for more astro-podcasts. I specificly want more accademic things like Richard Pogge's Astronomy 162 class from last winter. http://www.astronomy.ohio-state.edu/~pogge/Ast162/

Of course there is always these astro-podcasts
slacker astronomy http://www.slackerastronomy.org/wordpress/index.php,
Astronomy a go-go http://astronomy.libsyn.com/

Who knows of other ones?

Not a Podcast but you can listen to it over the Internet. This is my favorite to listen to at work...

Charles Johnson (South Georgia College) podcasts his Astronomy 1010 and Astronomy 1020 lectures. Not quite as engaging as Prof. Pogge's, however.

Also found this new one the other day: AstronomyCast with Fraiser Cain (from Universe Today) and Pamela Gay (ex-Slacker Astronomy). First podcast sounds good.

I found that one, I was able to listen to the first lecture of 1020 today on the bus, it was OK, but Pogge's were a lot better.

It's going to be hard to beat Pogge. I've listened to his entire course a good half-dozen times already - I spend three hours a day driving to and from work, lots of time to kill!

His Astronomy 161 course just started yesterday (9/20), looks like he'll be podcasting these lectures as well!

Yea his 162 rocked. BTW If you like his podcasts send him a quick note saying so. I've exchanged a few emails with him, he is a really nice guy.

Hey Zach,

In case you haven't found these yet, Leonard Lopate (WNYC in New York) regularly has some well known astronomers & physicists on his show, and does a farily decent job of asking intelligent questions. Here are some recent shows:

Brian Greene

Lisa Randall

Michio Kaku

Joel Primack & Nancy Ellen Abrams

Enjoy.
