No. It's essentially clear, it just has notches at several emission line points. I just leave it in the VSE and forget about it.
H-alpha's a different matter though.. Normally I can guide on 10th magnitude stars but through H-alpha 7th is about the limit.

Here's the software processing thread, but I can't find the "make sticky" button. Charles?

It is a sticky now; they changed the controls on us. AT the bottom of the screen you will see the button Manage. One of the menu list is sticky! Highlight sticky and then click on manage!

This is pretty complex stuff (I'm just starting to look into it). I have just ordered a Meade DSI to get my feet wet in imaging, but as it will be a while before it arrives, I have downloaded the demo of Maxim DL and started playing around with it.
How would you serious imagers suggest a beginner get started? I'm just getting my mind wrapped around the concept of dark, flat, and bias frames, but haven't actually started trying to make them yet.
Also, adding up the price tag of all the software Suk listed takes my breath away. What would be a good first step?

photoshop cs is a real handy program IMHO . but keep an eye out for student versions...especially if you have kids in the house..they run $100+ vs.$600 for the retail version.
registax is a great ..free program that works well with webcams, nextimager, dslrs and many other cameras
K3CCDTools lloked interesting as well.
I have seen some users use registar to assemble images that looked interesting , some what $$$$, so there may be other programs that do the same thing.

Everyone uses photoshop for image enhancement, what version of photoshop, or more specifically how old of versions can you use?

You can use any version from 5.5 reasonably well, but you need to go to the CS version in order to have 16-bit processing. That is pretty important.

I am still using Photoshop 4. I guess I should really modernize a bit. I supplement PS4 with Gimp 2.2, which is much better IMHO, but a bit obscure to use at times.

If your using an Orion Starshoot DSI or an SAC CCD imager, Nebulosity (30$) is considered a must by most users. Nebulosity can captures images with the Starshhot or any SAC CCD camera. It also has processing features which can be used for astro-images taken by these or by other CCD cameras.
Here is a link to the Manual (it's well written and it explains the basics of CCD imaging):

Does the FitsPlug enable photoshop to export file as .fits? Do both of the fitsplug and fits liberator have the same function? Do you mind that I post this collections of tools in my blog?

I prefer the FITS plug as it allows to save (or export) in a single (3 color) RGB FITS file. With the FITS Liberator, you have to save in 3 separate FITS files for each RGB color. The FITS Liberator is free. Nevertheless, I think that the FITS plug is much better than the FITS Liberator and is well worth the 30$ that it cost.
I don't mind if you use those links in your blog. I am not affiliated in any way with any of these persons (other than the fact that I use most of these tools).

Time to do part time job and pay for the FITS plugin. I will write about How to enchance your photoshop CS2 tomorrow.

Here is a link to a program called GIMP that can be used for image processing. It is very similar to Photoshop (it has curves and level, for example) but is freeware:
Gimp2
If the link doesn't work, go to:
www.download.com
and do a search for GIMP.
The main difference with Photoshop CS2 is that GIMP doesn't yet support 16 bit images. Version 3.0 of GIMP should support it. But version 3.0 isn't expected any time soon.

This is said to be the little brother of Photoshop. By the way, I prefer the resources hog photoshop.

I agree. However, GIP is free and Photoshop is 650 US$. I will probably not be using GIMP until they have 16 bits. But for somebody that doesn't have Photoshop, it's a useful tool.
