Very nice -- good outer details, and the core is not burned out. The dust lanes are even visible right up close to the core.

Superb image.
Is the f/6.3 reducer on your 80ed designed for an SCT? What did it take to mate it with the 80ed?
I'd also be interested in knowing how dark your viewing site is.

to dvb: I don't know about the original poster, but I also have an 80mm refractor coupled with an sct reducer (Celestron) by an adaptor made by Astro Engineering. Here's an image:

Wow, great M31!
What a busy night: M31, M42, and M45.
It looks like the ED80 likes that f6.3 reducer. I thought that a 6.3 reducer was to much for that scope and would require cropping out alot of the peripheral stars.

Yes, i use one of the Meade f6.3 reducers, its one
of the original ones...i`ve had it for several years.
I use one of these to attach it to the scope.
http://www.scopestuff.com/ss_taep.htm
The one like Fabio papa posted will work also.
Originally i bought this to attach the focal reducer and
camera.
#TA2P
http://www.scopestuff.com/ss_tadpt.htm
But i found that the recessed safety groove wouldnt allow
the focal reducer to seat propperly when inserted into the
Mercury systems compression adapter, so i replaced that
part of the #TA2P with the #TAEP that has no groove, works
great now.
The site i go to, to view and image is a Bortel class 2 site, Mag 7.3
Darren, it was cropped a little, partly to help get it
to fit the posting limits.
The stars near the edge really arnt too bad though.
I foregot to mention in the original post that i used the
STi-IV Stilleto for focusing.
