Processing the M42 on a rainy night

Its a rainy night so I processed some data from my first light with the 8 inch. What do you think?

the trapezium is nicely resolved
good job controlling the bright core.

the focus looks a bit soft
might try star size reduction
or a bit of sharpening

which camera did you use?

I used the DSI-C for this one. This was taken after the scope was freshly unpacked from the shipping box. I didn't even look at collimation yet or make a hartman mask before taking this. First night excitement I guess. Focus was done by eye.

I'm cursed tho. This has been the only time I have used the scope in the past couple of weeks and on top of that I bought a focal reducer that came in the mail Friday.

I'll be clouded over till mid January.
