The Trffid imaged with an ETX 70AT
      #137515 - 06/30/04 08:06 AM Attachment (360 downloads)

This image was acquired in severely light polluted suburban skies and pushed the scope to the limit...prior to processing in Photoshop I had a black rectangle with a few dots.
Here is the final image (arrived at with some help from others in processing)

ETX 70, camera Atik 1 c (modified Phillips Tou Cam) 50 exposures of 10 seconds each , best 12 selected for stacking , further processing in photoshop, NEAT for noise removal

Your images with the ETX70 are amazing. Are you posting them on Weasner's Mighty ETX Site? If not, you should. I think most ETX owners would agree that Mike's site could be considered the Holy Grail of information for ETX owners. Thanks for the great images and keep them coming

What kind of processing in photoshop did you do? Adjusting the levels/contrast?

I'm expecting an ETX-60 soon (got one off of Astromart) and am planning to try some wide field imaging with my Sony Mavica CD400 and a scopetronix adaptor.

What type of eyepiece are you using for your photos?

No eyepiece, I use the modified webcam instead of an eyepiece

For processing I applied a series of techniques-as described by Jerry Lodriguss in his site "Catching the Light"

http://www.astropix.com/HTML/J_DIGIT/DIGTECHS.HTM

Unfortunately I didnt keep track of the sequence of the steps I followed, but I did literally hours of processing.

How do you acheive the focus without the eyepiece?

Any chance we could get your NEAT filter preset (*.nfp) file?

The webcam is hooked up to the laptop or PC but still only with great difficulty!! Its a real pain getting the focus right -usually after star alignment I slew to a bright star or preferably an easy double, replace the eyepiece with the webcam and then try and get the best focus with the webcam while watching the preview window and the light meter on the laptop ( I use K3CCD in preview mode) first without long exposure and then in long exposure mode to try and get as good focus as possible

Re NEAT-I use the free demo version and just played around with the available options after doing an auto noise profile to get the best results so if I do have any presets it wasnt by design!
