GOMOC Update.....
Just got done talking to the OAS, and they want to permanently store both of their 8" Schmidts, and thier 12.5 Newt at GOMOC. From what I gather, they will be used by members, and guests at parties they hold here, but apart from that...they will live at GOMOC......Cool.
We are excited...

GOMOC Update....
I also wanted to mention that the machine shop just purchased a Multi mill/lathe/drill press machine to enhance ATMing at GOMOC.
I'm a bit excited, for the addition. Not just cuz it's a new *TOY*, but it can help in fabrication of aluminum parts for my scopes....
It's on the floor partly de crated, and it will be moved to the work bench this week. It will probably go where the lathe is right now, and the lathe will move across to the other side.....
Yippy.....

Indeed..I am pumped up.
Kerry mentions quite freqently, how a nice shop would help in the fab department. I know it isn't much, but hope to make aluminum parts to aid the ATM process...
Gonna Set it up this afternoon I hope.
Need to remove the lathe to a new location, and rearange the large Work bench too.
Gotta order more tooling from my online source, too.
I'm so excited.
More scopes a comin, and better tools to make more scopes...
This is astro heaven..

Well, I ain't tryin to compete. I just want to machine my ATM parts, and have it available for my ATMing friends.
Now I can make my own 2" adapters for my scope. Rob

To be honest, I haven't. We are getting ready to remodel the kitchen, and Vic and I have been shopping for new appliances, and tile. So every evening we have been at the store or doing those things. The new appliances will be delivered on Monday...So I have to get the old out, and prep, and tile in the new floor. She wants her new kitchen before Thanksgiving...
Last sunday we had some long time friends we hadn't seen in over a year over, and we talked of astro stuff, but they are some what disabled so no viewing was done.
Kinda comes and goes, I guess. It has been very clear, and dark here the past week, but as it would be, I have had far too many other things to attend to. Not to mention setting up the new lathe/mill.
Business has been busy, as well. I had to *sneek* in those pictures of the new mill....
I will be going to a dental convention this weekend, so any viewing that could be done then, will be out as well.
OAS will be bringing out the two 8" schmidts, and the 12.5 newt soon, so that will be fun.

The Comet was AWESOME you guys. In the 12 it was the size of a tennis ball with a central core clearly visible.

Hey Rob, how did you fair in the windstorm? Hope everything's OK. Peekaboo Ridge took a hit, the wind blew my ridge cap off. Just a little water in the ob.
I wasn't sure if using construction glue was a good idea and it turned out it wasn't. I'll have to screw it down this weekend.
Take care, RobVG

Sorry about the roof Rob. GOMOC weatherd it in style...however the small shed next to the tent camping field blew away. It got ripped off its foundation, and blew across the scope field.
I didn't have anything in it. But its a wreck. Probably use it for scrap now..
Last night was probably one of the darkest/clearest nights as of late here at GOMOC. Took the 25X127's out and viewed the comet with the family. They all bailed cuz of the cold, but I pressed on.... MAN was it nice. The Milky Way was bright, and.....OH man, what a night.
Hope you get some viewing in after your repairs.
See ya.
