By including the following link I'm not promoting the specific brand or vendor, because I found the same thing by accident and bought it on the spot at Wal-Mart. It's just a good way to specify what I'm talking about.

I'm just curious who else has tried this type of accessory. I've been using it with my 12x60, and it works pretty well. It works better for carrying the weight than a simple strap hanging around the neck. But I have found that the higher up in the sky that I look, the more I have to push against its elastic. I think I've loosened it about as much as it will go. Maybe I'm doing something wrong as I look higher up in the sky.
I think it would be quite good for people carrying binoculars all day, hiking or something like that.

Ed, I've got one and I can think of a lot of others that do as well. I think these harnesses are popular among hunters because they hold the binocular close while moving through rough terrian. They DO keep binoculars under control where a regular strap won't. They also take the weight off the neck and put it around the shoulders instead so seem to work best with mid sized bins rather than the smaller ones.
The elastic tension can help steady the bins when viewing but I can see where the tension would be too much aimed high as for astronomy. I don't suppose astronomy was in mind when these were developed.
Since I keep my standard neoprene straps very short to keep the bins on my upper chest, I rarely trouble myself to wear the harness unless I'm really "bobbing and weaving" through brush tangles and rocks. I don't seem to do as much of that as I used to!
I try to keep things as simple as possible and am reluctant to put metal rings in my strap lugs which is another reason I don't use mine more. I like "soft" connections, preferably 3/8" webbing.
