Nice GC image -- I've only shot one (plus a couple of other half-hearted attempts), because they're so small and difficult.

No offense, but I think your guiding needs some work.

Agreed; the elongation appears to be pretty uniform across the frame, eliminating most optical aberations. Focus also appears to be a little off; what focusing method are you using, Barry? Framing's pretty good, and your exposure time appears to be spot on, as the core doesn't seem to be blown out.

Thamks for the comments. I do have to do some tweaking to my equipment. With over 4 months of winter suck weather, I am a bit rusty on everything. BTW, I tried M13 again with the same setup. Here, I did not use a Gaussian Blur like I did on the previous image. This M13 was done on 22 April 2007 about 2 am EST. Imaged with D40, ISO 800, 10 x 2 min, 8 x 3 min, 50 percent crop, Sigma clip average combine in IP 2.82, flat and dark applied.

Well, I have not given up on this M13 image taken on 22 April 2007. Here is my latest tweak. Used Paint Shop Pro XI levels, curves, sharpening.

To say the truth, it looks like some rubbergum spilt over a handful nails driven into something.

You got good equipment, your exposure time should be good but the end results are far away of what should come out using this all.

If you would POS a RAW File, a 2 Min ISO 800 one, (please nothing processed!) we could take a deeper look and find out what may is going wrong. No sum file, nothing where you did any "modification" on it.
