Egrets taking the early morning sun.
Taken from high bluff at a distance of over 1 mile at 40x with lots of air turbulance so don't expect perfection. Just thought I'd change the scale of pictures here.

Nice shots Sparrow, Vike.. Love the sharp detail in the last shot.. I think the weather is supposed to be pretty nice early next week so i may go image the Eastern Bluebirds and check on the Warbler nest...something for a little change of pace for me, then its off to the butterfly conservatory for some new shots this year..

Nice shots guys.. I have a couple butterfly shots in my CN Gallery that i took last year, Owl butterfly and a Dead Leaf butterfly if anyone wants to look.
Sparrow, i went back this morning to check the nest i found a week or so ago and found that that nest was pretty much gone, might have been an old nest after all, about 25' away i just happened to notice another nest, it wasnt there before and after carefully looking at it i could see it had eggs in it, thing is the eggs look a pale blue with black spots, marked like Warbler eggs but they looked blue instead of the white that i read they should be. Anyway, here`s a shot of the nest and a not so good shot of the bird that attends it. I guess its a Yellow Warbler, just looked a little big to me for some reason.

Nice shots everyone. Keeps me hauling out the scope. The Baltimore Oriole stopped by this morning. It did not touch the oranges I put out, so I moved them.

Big D ,
Not wishing to be disrespectful , but if that is a REAL bird -- it is the most TWO dimensional image I've ever seen in a photo !

Perhaps it's just an especially shallow depth of field...?

That's what I would call a shallow DOF.
